Orientation
Welcome to the University of Melbourne graduate community, and to this new chapter in your academic and professional career.
The start of a graduate degree is an exciting time; your first foray into a new realm of ideas and skills, and a time to find out about all the new resources, administrative processes and other services that will support you in your study. It can also sometimes seem daunting, particularly if you are returning to study after a long period at home or in the workplace, are new to Melbourne, or if you are a part-time student juggling work, family and study. That's where graduate orientation comes in.
Orientation as a process extends well into the first few months of your degree, so to ensure that you get the best possible start, we strongly encourage you to get involved from the very beginning.
Key upcoming programs and events are listed below:
- The MSGR Research Induction: Becoming an effective researcher covers everything you need to know to get your research degree off to a flying start - from understanding the dynamics of supervision, to cutting edge eresearch skills.
- Discipline-specific Inductions are held at each Faculty and Graduate School. Details for Semester 1, 2010 can be found in the Graduate Orientation Program (PDF 1.5MB).
- International Student Services is a useful repository for international students looking for university events and information
