Mentor Program for Highly Able Secondary Students

A number of Victorian secondary schools in association with the University of Melbourne 's School of Graduate Research are offering a Mentor Program for highly able senior secondary students.

The program involves individual academic mentorship by a research postgraduate of a school student with demonstrated ability and interest in a particular field of research. It aims to motivate learning through encouragement, inspiration, shared passion, broad insight and appropriate challenge.

The school students selected to participate in the program are in Years 9 and 10, aged from 14 to 16 years of age. Mentors are remunerated in recognition of their contribution. Students' interests are broad and include mathematics, history, politics, philosophy, English, biotechnology, physics, molecular biology, genetics and cultural studies.

* Name

* Student number

* Department

* Course and year

* A passport sized photo

* Current CV

* Areas of interest especially academic/research

* Any previous experience working with young people
