Global Research Ethics and Integrity - Objectives and Outcomes
GREIM is an ethics course designed specifically for graduate research students. It proceeds from the premise that all research is an ethical undertaking, and that all researchers are confronted with ethical choices, whether in the laboratory, the library or the field. GREIM was written for a multi-disciplinary audience and aims to encourage cross-disciplinary debate among the entire graduate research community.
Participating in GREIM will enable you to:
- Deepen your understanding of the kinds of ethical issues that arise in a range of research areas
- Understand what constitutes good practice in research and what factors make research ethical or unethical
- Learn about national and international guidelines on ethics in research
- Access expert opinions and commentary via workshops and discussion forums
- Identify a range of resources on research ethics and integrity for RHD candidates
GREIM also offers an opportunity for:
- Skill development - by improving your skills in critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and online communication;
- Professional development - by giving you insight into the issues considered by university ethics committees, as well as opportunities to reflect on high-level ethical dilemmas in research in and beyond the academy; and
- Personal development - by fostering a critical and active engagement transferable across personal and professional contexts.
